While filing your Form 2290, you may have to specify if your heavy vehicle is a logging vehicle, i.e., the vehicle is exclusively used for logging purposes. A vehicle is considered as a logging vehicle if:

  • It is exclusively used to transport the harvested products from a forested site during the tax period.
  • It exclusively transports products to and from locations on a forested site.
  • It is registered as a highway motor vehicle used exclusively for the transportation of forest products under state law.

The products harvested from the forested site may include timber, charcoal, plywood, veneers, and pole.

Note: No special tags or license plates are required for identifying a heavy vehicle is used for logging purposes.
