Applicable To
Form 941 Form 1099 / W-2 Form 2290

It is mandatory to have an Employer Identification Number (EIN) to file a Form 941. If you do not have an EIN, you can apply for one online or by filling out Form SS-4, Application of Employer Identification Number

The IRS will require you to provide the correct name and Taxpayer Identification Number of the business owner. Click here to apply for an EIN online. It will take up to 10-15 business days for your EIN to become active.

If you have applied for an EIN and it still hasn’t become active before your Form 941 deadline, you can paper file Form 941 and write “Applied for” and mentioned the date you applied for an EIN in the EIN entry space.
