Form 941 will be considered complete only after the signing authority signs on the tax return. The signing authority can be any of the following.
- A business owned by the respective individual
- The Vice president, president, or other principal officers of a company
- An authorized member, officer, or partner having knowledge of the firm
- The owner of the Limited Liability Company (LLC) or a principal officer
A paid preparer can also sign Form 941 and provide the details in the "Paid preparer Use Only" section if the paid preparer isn’t an employee of the respective filing entity and is authorized to file the tax return on behalf of the business. Paid preparers are required to sign the paper returns manually.
