How do I correct errors in the bulk filing of Form W-2, 1099-NEC, and 1099-MISC?

When you are bulk filing Form W-2, 1099-NEC, or 1099-MISC with ExpressEfile, the bulk upload file will be validated. If there are any errors in the file, the errored returns will be skipped and the remaining returns will be processed.

To correct the errors in the bulk filing, follow the steps below:

If there are errors in the uploaded file, the number of errors will be shown on the processing page.

1. Click View Errors to see the errors in the file.
   
   
2. Click the Export Errors button to download the error file.
   
   
3. Make necessary changes to the file based on the errors shown.
4. Upload the updated file by clicking the Upload Corrected File link and selecting the file from the storage.
   • If the file you are uploading has the same data as in the previous file, you may either choose to overwrite the existing data or create a new entry by clicking the Yes, overwrite button or No, create a new entry button. 
     
     
5. Review the draft forms.
6. Enter the e-file information and opt for postal mailing if you want ExpressEfile to mail recipient copies on your behalf.
7. Make payment and complete the order.

You will receive an email once the IRS processes your returns. If you have opted for the postal mailing add-on, the recipient copies will be sent. If you haven’t opted, it’s your responsibility to furnish the recipient copies before the deadline.
