Form 1096 (Annual Summary and Transmittal of U.S. Information Returns) is a summary form filed along with Form 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC.
Form 1096 is not required when you e-file your Form 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC. However, ExpressEfile will generate Form 1096 for your records.
Please note that if you paper file Form 1099-MISC or 1099-NEC, you must file Form 1096.
