What is the deadline to file 1099-MISC?

Form 1099-MISC has been revised for the 2020 tax year and the nonemployee compensation reported in Box 7 of 1099-MISC is to be reported in Form 1099-NEC.  

Below are the deadlines for Form 1099-MISC:

• To send recipient copies of Form 1099-MISC - January 31
• To file Form 1099-MISC (if paper filing) - February 28
• To file Form 1099-MISC (if electronic filing) - March 31

Note: If the deadline falls on a weekend or federal holiday, the deadline will be the next business day.
