Applicable To
Form 941 Form 1099 / W-2 Form 2290
R0000-157: The Online Signature PIN that you entered while filing the return does not match with the PIN provided by the IRS for your business.

Possible reasons:

  • You may have made a simple typo in your Online Signature PIN.
  • You may have not received the complete Online Signature PIN from the IRS.

Solution:

If your Form 941 has been rejected by the IRS due to an incorrect online signature PIN, you may correct the return and retransmit it to the IRS by entering the correct Online Signature PIN or using Form 8453-EMP to authorize ExpressEfile as an Electronic Return Originator (ERO).

If you file Form 941 using ExpressEfile and the form gets rejected, you can correct the error and retransmit the return for FREE!

Here are the steps to correct and retransmit your return:

  1. Sign in to your ExpressEfile account.
  2. Go to Dashboard >> 94x Forms tab. From the left menu under the E-filed tab, you'll see your return filed.
  3. Click View Errors against the rejected return.

  4. Review the errors and click the Fix Me button.

  5. Navigate to E-Sign Form 941 and enter the correct online signature PIN or select the Use Form 8453-EMP option
    • If you have selected the Form 8453-EMP option, e-sign the form.

  6. Review your form once and transmit it to the IRS.

Your return will be transmitted to the IRS, and once it's processed, you'll receive an email of its status.
