A Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is a unique alphanumeric number of a vehicle and can be of up to 17 digits, which is used by the automotive industry to identify motor vehicles. The VIN of a vehicle can be found in the registration documents of the vehicle or the actual vehicle.
VINs are required to file Form 2290 so that it gets printed on Schedule 1, which you should carry as proof of the HVUT payment.
